Yes, I thought they were deployed in the Indian Ocean to release RN ships but didn’t realise they were in the Med too

There was a lot of pressure on Japan as an Ally to do more as the War went on. Japan had got all it wanted in 1914 and was happy just to police the Pacific and Indian Ocean but Britain and France needed more so a small force is sent to the Med
