I too have been flummoxed by the slipshod nature of the ship naming conventions in Star Wars.
If you want to read a good book with a much better and systematic set of ship classes, I would recommend “The Lost Fleet” by Jack Campbell. The author is an Annapolis graduate and has a very good grasp on naval architecture. His tactics are much more likely for the speeds involved in such imagined battles, instead of the silly near stationary close quarters broadsides of the Star Wars prequels.
He also names his battleships after historic ships, including Warspite.
